Conversation Topics

1) As I do with every conversation, take some time, introduce yourself, how you got involved with Friends of Ojibway Prairie

2) Who are the Friends of Ojibway Prairie, what does the group do? Describe the lands that you are talking about?

3) How does this prairie fit into Essex County and the rest of SW Ontario both geographically and from a bio-diversity and other perspective. Why should someone in London or Goderich care about it?

Digging in

1) Let’s talk about the Ojibway Urban National Park project. There are a lot of moving parts – a Parks Canada process, a bill in the Senate, a indigenous led process with Caldwell first nations and more from my understanding. What is your perspective on this process? What are Friends of Ojibway Prairie looking for?

2) There was a recent consultation on a wild life overpass connecting Ojibway Shore/Black Oak and the rest of the Ojibway Complex. Thoughts on this project?

3) Lands near the park are slated for development. How would you feel about hundreds of homes and commercial buildings going in right next to the proposed park? What is the balance between protecting natural environment and tackling the housing crisis? Do you need to collaborate with other groups to build greater advocacy power?

 4) We are ending on a positive note: what are you looking forward to in 2024?
