In addition to her Council role, she is a senior communications and planning professional with over two decades working in the public, private and non-profit sectors both across Canada and Europe. In 2017, Alysson turned personal tragedy into advocacy, successfully securing a $1Billion life-saving infrastructure project to build a concrete median barrier on Highway 401 between London and Tilbury, Ontario.
